I wonder if our perspective on the downside of the cycle is accurate. We tend to think of the upside as the “norm” and the downside as an “aberration.” But is the downside an actual aberration?
On the lives of great men, biographers write as if the “upside” were the representation of the true person, and as if the “downside” were a trying event in his life. But sometimes I wonder if the person is best understood as a whole of the cycle.
