The more I study Augustine, the more I realize that more of my rock solid theological assumptions are derived from Augustine’s spiritual musings. This concerns me. His theories on original sin have been embraced by the entire church. They are widely accepted, while his views on sex are widely rejected. That gives one view more credence than the other. Clearly, he had predispositions that influenced his thinking.
Again and again, I am reminded that a man must find his own way in the knowledge of God.
