Einstein spent the first 30 years of his career as a revolutionary and his subsequent 30 years as a resistor. I find the whole cycle ironic. Clearly, he embodied the whole of a thought-cycle.

I love what Issacson called him: “A reverential rebel.” I think Crispin Fletcher-Louis would appreciate such a title.
