Justice is a term that has lost its essential force in modern vocabulary. It refers, all too often, to the dull but necessary process of the legal system. But justice is essentially about adjustment. It is adjusting for the sake of equality. It feels to me like a mathematical term. And, it seems to be one of the most fundamental of human instincts.

Even a child, at a very early age, has a sense of justice. They will quickly cry out, “That is not fair.” In doing so, they reveal some sort of construct in the human mind. Whether this construct exists prior to environmental influence, I cannot tell. I would not be surprised, however if it does…I would like to do further thinking on the essence of this core ideal.
