The leader must be fierce in protecting their time, but he must balance this with the needs of his team. He must create margin in his schedule. Sometimes, he must affect a casual unhurried pace, even when at times everything inside of him is intensely focused on getting through the day with maximum achievement.

Sometimes the most important achievements are invisible. They do not show up on the calendar, and they do not show up immediately on the P&L. People need to feel like they have the leader’s full attention. One of the great challenges for the leader is becoming intentionally casual.
