I understand there is a need to develop a new approach to education. This is a conversation taking place all over the world. Still, people somehow think that re-conceiving education is just a matter of offering courses online, or through some form of digital technology.
What is missing is a fundamental understanding of how to transfer capacity. It is not so much a knowledge transfer as it is a capacity transfer. Knowledge, unless it is redefined in a more useful sense, is not enough. One is trying to achieve the transfer of skills. Skills, unless it is redefined, is not enough. What we are trying to do at MECLABS is research, and create capacity. We are then trying to transfer that capacity.
