Every time a business starts to grow, there is a natural danger that comes with it: the lust for scale. It is precisely these times that the leader must remind himself of his values. For me, I remind myself by the way I keep score.

At MECLABS, we do not keep score by the amount of the topline. We keep score by the impact of our content. Otherwise the organization produces erratic results. The leader must be careful not to get drunk on the achievement of scale. Such indulgence fosters a greater lust for the same. It will blind a leader; it impairs their judgment.
